In 1970, 90% of all children under eighteen live in households where both parents. In 2006, only 70% of children under eighteen were living with both parents. The number of children living with one parent tripled from 8. 5 million in 1970 to 20. 6 million in 2006. Clearly, single parents have become more frequent across the United States. In most urban areas, lone parents live in complex and difficult. Concerns about crime, economic pressures, it takes time and hectic pace of life is just stressful parenting a challenge. Lone parents raising children, a spark, is an association of single parents living in Montgomery County in the State of Maryland, the United States. SPARK also covers parent families in the areas around Montgomery County and Maryland. Spark was founded in 1987 by nine people who have met the challenges of their lives, single parents. The founders was to give parents the tools they need to cope with stress problems which had already faced and overcome. About single parents has increased SPARK Kids is a non-governmental organization whose mission is to build a community where single-parent families in the region can interact, build new friendships and share their experiences. Spark is a forum where single parents in Maryland can support each other, share the lessons they learned from their common experiences and help members learn from their successes and mistakes. SPARK fulfills its mission by encouraging the active participation of members in a balanced program that promotes a strong happy family. The group provides social and educational opportunities for each member. SPARK is an active organization that publishes a calendar of events each month to provide an informal, friendly social events where members can relax and enjoy building relationships with others who share their life experiences. Examples of such activities include concerts, films, dinners, and classes to help members to know each other and interact in a comfortable and pleasant. SPARK Management and Operation Not-for-profit SPARK exists solely to fulfill its role in defense and commitments for single parents. Untreated, can not count on all other causes or organizations. SPARK is a group of social support. Not generate income for the founders, leaders or members. Compensation alone is the satisfaction of knowing that it creates an opportunity for support, social interaction and exchange of hard-won wisdom and only for members of the parent company. SPARK is managed and administered by volunteers. Operating expenses are funded entirely by voluntary contributions and individual members of the parent company. Based in Maryland, covering the neighboring countries, SPARK is open to all parents with children under eighteen, if the parent has legal custody of the child or children. Objective The objective of spark Parents Raising Kids organization is to give members, constructive and practical ideas for solving the social, emotional and cash that come with single parenthood. Spark is social situations where single parents know they are not alone. In this spirit, SPARK only provides opportunities for parents: • Participation with other single parents in a healthy and fun activities. • Learning and produces more knowledge on problems and solutions for single parents. • The exchange of what they have learned that could benefit other single parents. Reflections on Single Parenting Today, single parent families are happier than those of previous generations. Spent time as single parents set aside or disregarded by society. Today, single parent families do not bear the social burden and stigma associated with the good old days with a failed marriage or pregnancy outside marriage. Single parents today are lucky to have the opportunity to enjoy the support and practical issues to groups and activities to help meet the constraints of raising their children alone. Organizations such as the spark can help the parent of a single well in the past. But better late than never. God thank you, parents can take now to support engines. Having achieved success in making life better for single parent families in the region, SPARK hopes that the approach will be extended from Maryland to the world.
